Nell Kerr: Featured Artist

10 February - 27 March 2024
The 2024 Featured Artist series startswith an exhibition of paintings by Nell Kerr.

Nell's paintings are meditations on how water moves, how it might feel or sound. Using traditional methods of oil painting she aims to evoke the very essence of moving water, from crashing waves to placid ripples. Her work is informed by spending time on the water, often out in her Canadian canoe in and around Cornwall's Helford River where she lives and works, gathering ideas and reference material for her paintings back in the studio. By focussing on small areas of more vast bodies of water, and containing them within the boundaries of her canvas, Nell's work expresses the limitless, infinite and fractal nature of her subject.

Nell Kerr completed her Art Foundation studies at Plymouth College of Art and Design and went on to do a BA in Fine Art at Coventry University School of Art, specialising in painting, before moving to Cornwall in 2004. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and is held in private collections in the UK and abroad.
