John Brenton: Featured Artist

29 July - 23 August 2023

Artist John Brenton takes inspiration from the natural beauty of the British Isles, working here in Cornwall and as far north as Scotland. Typically painting 'en plein air' he has developed a palette of natural colours that express the ever changing and temperate atmosphere of the landscape, instantly transporting viewers to the untouched, sometimes isolated places around our beautiful coastline. This new collection is inspired by the landscape in and around Polzeath and the spectacular Camel Estuary.

John was born in Cornwall in 1964 and over his 25 year career he has established himself as one of the UK's leading land and seascape artist. He works in his preferred medium of oil paint, using both a palette knife and brush to create the richly textured style of painting that he is known for. John has held solo exhibitions throughout the UK and has been selected for exhibition at the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Oil Painters. His works are collected across the UK and worldwide.
